The TreatmentOUR PHILOSOPHY We recognise that helping one individual from a family to change can often help other family and friends; we encourage the family relationships and recognise that the individual will need the support of those around them when they leave, so building those relationships whilst in Somewhere House is vital. Our therapeutic programme is based upon total abstinence from all mood altering chemicals. We believe that everyone has the right to change and develop; we believe this is possible in the right environment and with the right support. WHAT WE OFFER
We have both internal and external monitoring systems, externally by the CQC (which was CSCI); we are currently rated as three star excellent. We also have internal supervision, external supervision, staff meetings, debriefing and reviews by staff and clients. All staff are trained and will be encouraged to extend their already good knowledge with further training. Somewhere House has an expectation that every person who chooses to reside at our premises is also saying that they are choosing to take part in our program. The opportunities will be made for the person to explore both past and present experiences and how these have influenced their current lifestyle and how best they feel they need to change to move on to a more fulfilled life. WHAT THE CLIENT CAN EXPECT A resident has one individual session per week with their one-to-one counsellor, with a 'check-in' later on in the week. Group therapy takes place daily where, we believe, the client has as much to offer the other clients as the staff. To this end we encourage each person to join in the discussion and offer constructive feedback and open identification. Everyone is expected to take part in all activities, unless prior permission has been given by a member of staff. We ask that each resident attend a minimum of two AA or NA meetings a month in order to experience the 12-step support on offer in the community. We are also fortunate to have an NA meeting here on the premises once a month. This is supported by NA and most of our clients really appreciate the support that is on offer. Every resident is expected to be responsible for the running of the house and daily duties are given. The opportunity to cook, paint, draw and develop hobbies is encouraged, fishing has also occurred but we have still not seen any evidence of a successful fish! Somewhere House recognises the value of strong family ties and will offer support to the family where it is deemed appropriate. Family visits are encouraged and can be planned via a member of staff. Many families have been affected by the course addiction can take, so we will always take this into consideration when setting up family counselling, meetings and visits. DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME On leaving we offer face to face, email and telephone support, as appropriate . An aftercare package can be negotiated and there is a cost implication for one to one sessions. MOVE ON SUPPORT We currently have 14 supported bed spaces to enable further support in the community. Individuals are allowed to live independently, making a contribution to society, while being supported by two floating support staff. Some of the tenants only require minimal support where others may need more. Once again this follows the theme of setting the needs according to the individual. We take external referrals for the houses which allows local individuals returning from rehab to resettle in their local community, and those wishing to extend their support in the area. All individuals are assessed before entering the houses and abstinence is a must. IS IT FOR YOU? To have your questions answered contact info@somewherehouse.com or call on 01278 795236
